PETER DRISCOLL

Peter qualified as a solicitor in 1982 having studied law at Southampton University and passed the solicitor exams via the College of Law, Lancaster Gate. In 1987, he joined Elborne Mitchell in EC3 becoming a Partner in 1991. Peter was heavily involved in the Lloyd’s Names Litigation on behalf of Managing and Members’ Agents, and in a number of high profile reinsurance disputes. Peter then spent several years in the London office of Eversheds before he joined Mills & Reeve in June 2000 to establish a presence in the London insurance market having just opened an office in the Bankside Business Centre in Leadenhall Street, London EC3.

Peter played an integral role in establishing Mills & Reeve as a recognised player in the London insurance market and was well known not only for his legal skills but also for his networking and business development skills having opened many doors for colleagues during his 12 years plus as a partner.

Peter’s specialist areas were professional indemnity and reinsurance, and he was rated in the Legal 500 and Chambers for both. He defended numerous claims against accountants, brokers, independent financial advisers and other financial institutions, solicitors and trustees amongst other miscellaneous professionals over the years. Peter advised upon binding authorities, coverage, personal accident and property related issues. He was involved in numerous arbitrations and mediations and tried a number of cases in the Court of Appeal and the Supreme Court, particularly during the Lloyd’s Names Litigation.

Since setting up REVIEW AUDIT Peter has carried out numerous Coverholder audits (based on the Lloyd’s audit scopes – the 2014 version and the 2018 version); numerous TPA audits; 4 Panel Law Firm audits; 6 reserve reviews; numerous independent claims reviews for a Managing Agent since 2014; 3 Lloyd’s CFRs (in 2017 and lined up to undertake more Lloyd’s CFRs in 2019); and a strategic review of a Claims Department (for a Lloyd’s broker).

Peter is a member of the Chartered Insurance Institute.  Peter has completed the Lloyd’s eLearning courses on Bribery, Sanctions and Proceeds of Crime (including Money Laundering). Peter attended a CII Masterclass on Conduct Risk as presented by Branko Bjelobaba; a LMA Seminar on Conduct Training for Auditors and an Auditor Training Workshop provided by XL Catlin. Peter has also attended the last six Lloyd’s Coverholder Auditors Conferences. Peter also attended the Lloyd’s Training on the 2018 Audit Scope and on the recent updates to AiMS, as well as the training for the Lloyd’s CFR Reviewers for 2019.

Peter is a member of the Delegated Authority Reviewers’ Association (and assisted with the drafting of its constitution).
